Community Activity

Stories From The Pandemic, supported a wide range of activities to take place across the city which enable many communities to come together, reflect on their experiences from the pandemic and engage in memorial activity together.

 

Compassionate Sheffield, in partnership with Sheffield City Council, awarded over 50 small grants to a wide range community groups and organisations in Sheffield under its Covid-19 Community Memorial Fund.

'Give us a GIF' - DINA

Sheffield arts venue, DINA, projected a patchwork of ‘lockdown’ GIFs, sent to them by members of the public, onto their venue in Fitzalan Square.

‘Help Each Other!’ - Stand and Be Counted

Stand and Be Counted’s Youth Theatre of Sanctuary co-created a short film called ‘Help Each Other!’ exploring everything they learned and lived through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Victorious Women of Valiant ran a series of drop in coffee mornings, combined with storytelling workshops, for women survivors of domestic abuse, creating a safe and comfortable space for women to share their story with others who have gone through similar experiences.

Israac Somali Community Association

Israac held an event named ‘Covid Impact within our Community’, featuring a Memory Wall, for members of their community to reflect on how they coped through the pandemic, how resilient individuals and communities were, and remember loved ones lost.

ShipShape Health and Wellbeing

ShipShape’s Community Memory Wall captured stories and quotes of people’s experiences during the pandemic, using pictures and words in community languages.

Endcliffe Corner Community Organisation

Endcliffe Corner Community Organisation

Endcliffe Corner Community Organisation (ECCO) held an in-person event outdoors, bringing together the community to reflect on the impact of COVID. The group also installed a memorial bench in Endcliffe Park to honour the role the park played during the pandemic.
